About KindRise
KindRise is a small, independent project — not a big company. It's built and run by one person: a Brooklyn resident who cares a lot about helping the community.
I live with my family in Prospect Heights. We spend most weekends in Prospect Park, and I genuinely love this part of the city — the brownstone blocks, the gardens and open streets, the neighbors who show up for each other. More than anything, I love the sense of community here. That's really what KindRise grew out of.
Over the years I kept seeing neighbors and local groups raise money for good, tangible things — a community garden, a school trip, a youth team, a family going through a hard time — and watching a frustrating chunk of every dollar disappear into platform fees and confusing "tips." I thought it should be simpler and fairer.
So KindRise keeps fees low and transparent (0.75% per transaction, or 0.50% on the subscription plan, on top of standard payment processing), lets donors optionally cover fees so causes can keep close to 100%, and includes a free AI-generated banner so any fundraiser can look great in minutes.
A real person, not a help desk
Because this is a small project, when you email support@gokindrise.com, a real person reads it — me. I help directly, and I often build the features people ask for. If something's missing or confusing, I want to hear about it; that feedback is how KindRise gets better.
It's also why so many of the fundraising guides here are Brooklyn-specific. They come from actually living and spending time in these neighborhoods — not from a content factory.
